Future HSC Logo Future Health and Social Care in partnership with the Heart of Birmingham Primary Care Trust (HOBtPCT) established the Carer support service as part of a response to the Government’s National Strategy for Carers published in 1999.

The Aims of the Carer Support Service

Through the Carer Support Service, Future Health & Social Care aim to:

  • Raise awareness of the Carers role in society;
  • Identify and support ways that enable Carers to be involved in the development and planning of services that affect them;
  • Encourage the involvement of Carers in the provision and planning of services to meet their needs;
  • Collate and disseminate information to Carers to keep them aware of local, regional and national issues that affect Carers and empowering them to voice their views;
  • Facilitate Carers Support Groups and networking with other Carers agencies.

Carers can access help, advice and support with application forms, such as:

        • Holiday Grants
        • Benefits Applications
        • Direct Payments
        • Equipment Grant Applications

Carers can also get assistance, advice and support with regard to:

        • Housing Needs
        • Respite Care
        • Educational Courses
        • Work Opportunities
        • Information on Medication

If Future Health & Social Care cannot help a Carer directly, they offer a Signposting Service that ensures Carers are supported in their needs by other suitable agencies.

Supporting Carers' Emotional Needs

Caring can be an emotionally demanding role but Carers can be sure that they will be supported, in complete confidence, with regard to their emotional needs.  So, Carers, please come and share your stories, your feelings - do not continue to feel alone because Future Health & Social Care understands the issues and problems associated with being a Carer and they are there waiting to support you.

More specifically, if you are a Carer dealing with a particular issue and you are struggling to find a voice then Future Health & Social Care would love to help you.

How do I Access these Services?
