About the National Blind Children's Society

As the largest independent provider of services to children with visual impairment in the UK, the National Blind Children's Society is developming all the time and intends to remain at the forefront of highlighting and providing for the needs of all children who are visually impaired and their families.

In Birmingham we offer five key services:

Family Support Service

The Family Support service of the National Blind Childrens Society does just what the name implies; supports families with children who are visually impaired.

For parents and carers we provide:

      • Information relating to your child's eye condition, in parent-friendly, easily understood format. We provide information and contact details for national specific eye condition groups, who may provide more specialist information and may be able to link you to other families who have children with the same eye condition
      • A listening service where parents can talk in confidence about their concerns and receive ongoing support
      • Advice regarding claiming benefits
      • Practical support and advice on any issue concerning life with a child with a visual impairment
