Alex Haines, Bowen Technique Therapist
Alex Haines, Bowen Technique Therapist
I am a complementary therapist offering the Bowen Technique. When introduced to the technique, I was fascinated by how its gentle movements can produce such beneficial results. (I see it very much as a complementary therapy to support conventional medicine).
Throughout all of my work, I keep a very open mind when treating clients. I simply love to help and the results never cease to amaze me. I liken it to servicing a car to make sure it runs well.
I do not interfere with medication and can treat anyone even if they are unable to receive other complementary therapies for various reasons.
Carers look after others but should not forget to look after themselves.

About Bowen Technique
Bowen Technique, a little known remedial therapy, originated in the 1980's in Australia. The practitioner uses thumbs and fingers on precise points on the body to make rolling type moves which aim to disturb the muscles, soft tissue and energy within the body.
During the treatment there are periods in which the client is left resting to allow the body to absorb the gentle moves that have been performed. This gives the body time to make the subtle and fine adjustments which help to relieve tension, reduce pain and initiate the healing process.
The Bowen Technique encourages the body to realign itself; there is no manipulation or adjustment of hard tissue and no force is used or needed.
The Bowen Technique is not a form of massage.
Bowen treats the person not the condition but in so doing often helps a whole host of conditions. It is a very gentle therapy done through light clothing. Bowen has been found to be particularly useful for frozen shoulders, asthma, migraine, back pain amongst other things but can also be used for general relaxation/well being.
