Exercise on Prescription

The Exercise on Prescription Scheme helps people to be healthier by being more active.  It is a GP referral scheme, which operates all over Birmingham and is one of the biggest schemes of its type in the country.

So how can Carers benefit from this scheme?

The life of a carer is emotionally draining and can be physically demanding.  Life increasingly revolves around the duties of caring and this can take its toll with the carer feeling more tired and exhausted.

The scheme is for people aged between 15 and 74 who have some of the risk factors that can lead to coronary heart disease and this includes a very stressful lifestyle.

All surgeries in Birmingham (who are part of a Birmingham Primary Care Trust) can refer to the Exercise on Prescription scheme, which operates at 13 different leisure centres.

So how do Carers continue a healthy lifestyle after their prescription has expired?
