deafPLUS is a registered medium-sized charity and company limited by guarantee working to encourage integration and equality between deaf and hearing people in all areas of life.

About the Coffee Mornings

My name is Julia Pitt of deafPLUS and I am a deaf advocate for Birmingham.  I host the deafPLUS  coffee Mornings, which are held on the last Tuesday of the month during term-times, between 11am and 1pm at the Deaf Resource Centre, West Bromwich.  The mornings include information sessions - other organisations/ services come along and will tell the group about themselves.  These information sessions are not restricted to hearing issues but, on the contrary, may be on a wide variety of interesting topics.  The emphasis is on creating a friendly environment and newcomers are particularly welcome.

**A lip reader and sign language interpreter is always present so everyone can get the most out of these mornings**

Having a hearing problem can often make you feel isolated, so please do come along and meet with others who share the same experiences as you.  If you want any further information, then please contact me (details are at the bottom of the page).

Would you be Interested in a Birmingham-based Coffee Morning?

I realise that West Bromwich is a long way for Birmingham residents to travel and I am really keen to start up a Coffee Morning for Carers of deaf people in Birmingham.  Would you be interested?  Would you support such an event?  If so, please do contact me - my contact details are at the bottom of the page.

As well as the Coffee mornings, I am also involved in Advocacy work for deafPLUS.  Please click here for more information.

Who can attend these events?

Whether you are a Carer with a hearing loss yourself or a hearing Carer who looks after someone with hearing loss, you are welcome to attend.  In fact, we'd like to emphasise that you do not have to be deaf to come and enjoy these mornings and also it doesn't matter where you live.

We are actually really eager to invite Carers of people with impaired hearing - you can both come or you can come alone.
