Future Health & Social Care – Carer’s Service
The Carer’s Service, run by Future Health & Social Care, is a Citywide support service for Birmingham residents from Black and Ethnic Minority Communities who are looking after an adult (aged 18 - 64) who is experiencing mental illness.
The Aims of the Carer's Service
The purpose of the service is to provide short-term flexible relief for Carers. Carers become eligible for this service once a Carer’s Assessment has been completed.*
The service will:
- Enable Carers to take a short break during the day
- Offer Carers the opportunity for time away from their Caring responsibility (up to 7 hours a week for 12 weeks)
- Provide a culturally sensitive service to the individual Carer and Service User
- Provide a planned approach to support the Carer
- Provide practical information to Carers about other services
- Provide some practical support to Carers by motivating and prompting the Service User during the Carer respite period.
The Service is not a nursing service and will not provide practical ‘hands on’ care. This is because the Service is aimed at giving the Carer a break.
*No Carer’s Assessment completed? Do not worry as Future health & Social Care’s Support team can assist you in arranging a Carer’s Assessment.
When is the Service Available?
The Service operates Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 10:00pm. Bank Holidays and Weekends available on request.
