What is the purpose of the Inclusion Project?

This project offers parents/carers of children with disabilities, additional or specific needs (up to age 13) the opportunity of inclusive childcare with a registered childminder.
This provides an opportunity for all the children in the setting to experience inclusive play.

As a parent/ Carer this will give you the opportunity of some respite hours, knowing that your child is being cared for in a safe and stimulating environment, by a registered childminder.

Parent/ Carers can be assured that all childminders in the project are:

      • OFSTED registered
      • Subject to a criminal record bureau check
      • Hold a first aid certificate as a minimum

How does the project work?

Children are referred onto the project - see below for referral details.
A criterion has been drawn up and if this has been met, the project can then be accessed.
It is offered for children up to 13 years of age.

Who can refer?

Any professional working with the child (e.g. social worker, health visitor etc.) or, as the parent/ Carer, you can refer yourself.

What does the contract offer?

The contract offers 130 hours childcare in total for the child.

What happens next?

The co-ordinator checks the database of childminders who have expressed an interest in the project, and tries to "match" the childminder and the child.

The matching process requires many factors to be taken into account.  For example some are:

      • Locality
      • Times the parents may require
      • Times and vacancies the childminder may be able to offer
      • It is suitable for the child
      • Is it suitable for the other children in the setting
      • Not always necessary, but is additional training required?
      • Time to set up the arrangement
      • If there is an initial match the parent/carer, the child and the childminder will meet

If all goes well the contract can be setup.

Please Note:

      • Care is at the childminders home and the parent/Carers are required to transport the child there
      • The project is unable to offer care in the childs own home
      • Overnight care is not available
