Carers into Education
The Carers into Education project offers reduced fees on distant learning courses to carers over the age of 16 years living in the Eastern region and the Midlands. This project is a partnership between the National Extension College and the Princess Royal Trust for Carers, funded for three years by the Big Lottery.
Carers can access National College courses at reduced rates (just 20% of the full fee on most courses). We offer a range of curses including GCSEs, AS and A2s, vocational subjects such as book-keeping or child-care, along with creative writing, art, counselling and study skills. We also offer the Cit y and Guilds Learning for Living course to carer as a purely online course.
NEC courses are through distant learning, with no requirement to attend classes, so carers can study where and when they choose. Studies can be fitted around caring responsibilities and carers will have the support of a subject tutor and a personal mentor.
